The Shafts

The shafts of Dron are the main tunnels that connect the Works with the Hull.

They are distinct from other tunnels in the Works because shafts are mostly straight vertical tunnels with winding stairs or paths hewn into their sides.

As one goes deeper into the center of Dron the works gets bigger and bigger, this is because the Dron is effectively bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

Main Shafts

Delvers have their own expressions to find their way in the Works. This leads to the definition of a juncture in shafts as follows:

When three shafts join they call it a vex.

When six shafts join it is called a rex.

According to some geomancers, at some point twelve shafts should meet at the very center of Dron, but no one has ever reported seeing this mythological place. Allthough there are several myths about the center of Dron, it remains an unknown subject.

The Bale Shaft

At the very center of Bale crown there is a shaft into the Works. It is a prosperous and less dangerous fire commerce route that connects to the Hull.

This makes Bale one of the best places on the Hull to acquire information about the underworld.
